Planning Your Fly-fishing Trip To Yellowstone
...........................  ......................Fly Fishing Yellowstone National Park

When to Come and What To Expect:

Fly Fishing: Outside Yellowstone National Park - Fall River
The Fall River flows out of the Southwest corner of Yellowstone National Park and
eventually into the Henry's Fork of the Snake River. It gets much of its water from the
Bechler River just inside the park.

The river is inaccessible via road from the park for the first fourteen miles. Below the
CCC Bridge, the Fall river runs through Idaho farm land. It can be accessed in many
places in its lower section. There are several points it can be accessed leading from
Ashton Idaho on the way to Yellowstone's Cascade Corner. Just make sure you don't
get on private property without asking.

Terrestrials are your best bet for August. Imitations of ants, beetles and grasshoppers
work well. PMDs will be around most of the time. Wild rainbow and cutthroat are
plentiful.

Don't overlook the Fall River, especially if you fish the Henry's Fork of the Snake near
Aston. Most anglers do overlook it in favor of the Henry's Fork and during certain times
of the year, it fishing just as good.
